Glory Tabernacle Ministry
Salvation | Sanctification | Service
Christ gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us and purify us unto Himself, a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
That every member will be a living model of genuine salvation, sanctification, and service to the Lord.
The Glory Tabernacle Ministry was established on 7th January, 1990. It is a single congregation Ministry which has been involved in missions work from its inception. One very unique experience the ministry had from the beginning was that the Lord inspired the leadership of the Ministry on the need to tithe all the tithes and offerings. The tithe of tithes was designated for mission support. In this way, the fund for mission support was secured. This was the direct outcome of the favorable disposition of the Pastor to missions.
Partial Missionary Sponsorship Program (PMSP)
From 1990 to 1994 the tithe of tithes was shared among some mission agencies. The fund was sent to the headquarters of these agencies as general support to their work. However the church leadership soon thought that the field based missionaries needed the money more than their headquarters. From 1995 the mission fund was now used to support field based missionaries. It was also decided at that time that the support would be in phases of three years.
During this period the money was sent as monthly stipend to the missionaries. The missionaries were all nominated from and by several mission agencies. The income of the church was not much at that time. So we could only afford to pay each missionary five hundred Naira per month. It was regarded as partial support to augment whatever other support they were receiving from elsewhere, hence the name "Partial Missionary Sponsorship program". When PMSP entered its second phase (1998-2000), the income of the church had begun to increase.
Consequently, the stipend of the missionaries was increased to seven hundred and fifty Naira per month. The number of missionaries and mission agencies enjoying the support was increased by more than 100%. We also began sponsorship of missionary children. In subsequent phases, the number of missionaries and missionary children benefiting from the scheme further increased. The table below shows GT's progressive involvement in Missions.
|Phase||Missionaries||Amount/Month||Missionary Widow(er)s||Amount/Month||Missionary Children||Amount/School Term||Mission Agency|

Special Missionary Sponsorship Program (SMSP)
In July 1997, Dr. U. Obed attended the Global Consultation on World Evangelism in Pretoria, South Africa. On his return, he initiated the formulation of the church view on missions as follows: "We believe that the current global emphasis on evangelizing the world by 2000AD (and beyond) is a divine initiative. We also believe that the most effective way of achieving this goal is by aggressive missionary work. It is therefore our desire in the Glory Tabernacle Ministry to participate in this final global thrust, by supporting mission endeavors."
The church consequently adopted three of the critically unreached people groups in Nigeria on the Joshua Project. Three missionaries were selected and placed on special sponsorship. This gave rise to the program we now refer to as Special Missionary Sponsorship Program(SMSP). Each of the missionaries was placed on a stipend of five thousand naira per month. Since then we have had and still have several missionaries in critically unreached areas under our sponsorship.
At this juncture, the Pastor encouraged individuals and teams in the church to get personally involved in mission support. Everyone was made to realize that this is an acceptable service to God, which has both temporal and eternal rewards. Any amount was acceptable as long as it will be given on a regular basis. Over 100 people made monthly pledges of between 50 and 5000 naira. In addition, many teams (Ushers, Choir, Children, Deacons, Singles, etc.) in the church decided to sponsor one or more missionaries in the PMSP.
Private businesses, Schools and other enterprises provided corporate contributions. Together with the tithe of tithes, more resources became available for mission support. In order to coordinate all these contributions and enhance the effective and fruitful use of the resources, the Mission Support Clearing House (MSCH) was set up.
GT is divided into zones based on the grouping of our home cells (Discipleship Fellowship Centers). Each of these zones collects special missionary offerings at the home cells. With these offering they participate in the PMSP and carry out other forms of mission support. One of the zones has bought a motorcycle for a field based missionary.
Members of the church who feel that they have missionary calling can avail themselves of the various opportunities provided in the church. There are three mission related teams in the church.
Other Mission Activities in GT
ADM is an end-time move of the Holy Spirit to restore the practice of apostolic-styled (life-transforming) discipleship in the church of the 21st century and beyond.
To make available to the church in all the continents of the world, the knowledge, practical skills, and resources, for effective apostolic-styled discipleship, by which believers can grow more systematically into the image of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The School in its origin, concept and course content is designed to train Christian leaders or potential leaders. It started in 1990 by a vision the Pioneer General Pastor of the Ministry Dr U Obed received from God of the need for the training of leaders for the contemporary Church. Its present structure as an organized training school came into being in 1995 when 189 participants graduated from the school.
The Apostolic Discipleship Movement organizes these strategic training sessions with view to enable disciple makers, pastors and church leaders and other committed individuals with skills and capacity to initiate, conduct and sustain transformational discipleship programs using tested apostolic discipleship movement materials.
Participants are also trained to be able to develop apostolic discipleship training materials.
The Believers Spiritual Growth program is the product of the ADM effort in developing a life-transforming discipleship programs. It comprises bible study materials developed in line with the three stages of spiritual growth as espoused by the ADM.
There are forty five bible study outlines in the first stage, and sixty in the second stage. The third stage is a formal teaching on identifying, developing and deploying one’s destiny fulfilling ministry.
I thank God for His Word is true. God told me in 1989 (when I gave my life to Jesus Christ): "You will be light to all nations". It had been happening in various ways. It happened again in May, 2015. I won the Tetfund Award as the first person to have ever won such in my faculty. Because the devil was angry, the money was withheld. In the last miracle service (January, 2016), I brought the matter before God. The servant of God (Pastor Obed, Mummy Chy, and Pastor Akinbola) declared the word of God on the approval and assured me that it was done. It has been actualized.
God moved mightily and it is really done because the management has decided that soon I will be interviewed on our radio and in the university's weekly bulletin to prove to the university community that this grant can be won by researchers in humanities because people think it is only researchers in science alone that can win it. Our God is good. A sister.
