GT Vision

Glory Women

The Glory Women's Team was established in 1990 by Pastor U. Obed, shortly after the inception of the Glory Tabernacle Ministry. Women are universally acknowledged as influential and what they are exposed to determines the kind of influence they in turn, demonstrate.

The Pioneer General Pastor, Dr. U. Obed recognized this truth early so He believed God that the women of Glory Tabernacle would be positive influence to the world at large, beginning with the family and the Church. So, the Glory Women's Team was the first human team to be established in GT, to give strength to our local assembly and to affect our entire world positively.

The team was blessed to have the Pioneer Associate Pastor, Dr. Mrs. Chy Obed as its first leader from 1990 to 1993. She was used of God to lay the strong foundations of effective prayer focus, acquisition of spiritual knowledge through word study and the development of a positive life-style befitting a woman of honour as modelled for Christian women in Prov. 31:10-31. She taught by word and action. Upon this foundation eleven other able leaders have built to date, consistently upholding the cherished values of the Team.

Vision, Goals and Objectives

The founding parents of the Glory Women Team envisioned the Ministry's women growing to become pillars of virtue and godly influence in their homes, Church and the community, like Deborah of old. The vision and mission of the team are a subset of those of the Ministry as found in Titus 2:14 and articulated in working to make every member a genuine model of salvation, sanctification and service. The goals of the team's membership therefore, include the following:

  • Nursing and nurturing women's spiritual lives
  • Shaping and sharpening individual woman's life vision
  • Aligning women's homes with God's purpose
  • Maximising the use of their gifts, talents and resources anywhere they find themselves
  • Helping women come on fire for God not only in this local assembly, but also touching their entire generation and the whole world.

Over the years, the Glory Women Teams has conducted activities that centred around the following among others:

  • Building up women's spiritual lives, helping women build strong and healthy homes. Equipping women for crucial roles they are to play in God's program through their local church have been emphasized in the team. One of the challenges facing women is how to balance other aspects of lives with the work of God, spiritual matters and family responsibilities. Practical ways to overcome this challenge has been taught severally in the team. The team also takes care of welfare needs by rendering financial and material support for members when necessary rejoices with those who are rejoicing like in wedding and naming ceremonies and provides opportunities for functional membership for women in the church [getting involved in human team assignments]
  • The team also extends love by taking care of the welfare needs of the entire church during special programs.

Special feature

Nine years after the inception of the Ministry, the Pioneer General Pastor thought it good for the women to organize biannually a Women's Convention which was tagged "Deborah Convention". Since this program started in 1999, God has used it to bless both the Glory Women Team and also women from outside of the Ministry. Several editions of the programme have been held and have been moments of revival and restoration of lives, families and indeed destinies.

The team organizes meetings at zonal levels, general meetings, prayer and fasting meetings, special prayers sections with waiting mothers, pregnant sisters and women facing one challenge or the other especially relating to pregnancy, child-bearing, procreation and general women health.

Testimony

I thank God for His Word is true. God told me in 1989 (when I gave my life to Jesus Christ): "You will be light to all nations". It had been happening in various ways. It happened again in May, 2015. I won the Tetfund Award as the first person to have ever won such in my faculty. Because the devil was angry, the money was withheld. In the last miracle service (January, 2016), I brought the matter before God. The servant of God (Pastor Obed, Mummy Chy, and Pastor Akinbola) declared the word of God on the approval and assured me that it was done. It has been actualized.

God moved mightily and it is really done because the management has decided that soon I will be interviewed on our radio and in the university's weekly bulletin to prove to the university community that this grant can be won by researchers in humanities because people think it is only researchers in science alone that can win it. Our God is good. A sister.
