Glory Tabernacle Ministry
Salvation | Sanctification | Service
Christ gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us and purify us unto Himself, a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
That every member will be a living model of genuine salvation, sanctification, and service to the Lord.
As the scope and membership of the Glory Tabernacle Ministry increased in the mid-1990s, the need to address peculiar spiritual, developmental, and social challenges of teenagers in the Ministry became increasingly obvious. There is no doubt that the Glory Tabernacle Ministry was (and is still) focused on sharing the vision that Christ gave Himself for us that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works (Tit. 2:14).
However, there appeared a generation of some teenage worshippers who were not sufficiently reflective of the typical holy young Christian of the mid-70s. There were fears that many of the teenagers were caught in-between worldly and holy lifestyles; a phenomenon the Pioneer and Associate Pastors called "generational entropy", warning that if the devil succeeds in winning the youths over, there might not be continuity in the purity and holiness that should characterize members of the GT Ministry in the future.
Many supposedly born again Christians of all ages, status, tribes, contexts, and social categories are becoming increasingly overwhelmed by diverse temptations. There is no longer a firm assurance of salvation, Christ-like life, and the faith committed unto us by the apostles. To say that many teenagers no longer adhere to the faith of our fathers was becoming an understatement. Christians in many societies, more especially youths are overwhelmed by the impact of the internet, social media, and ungodliness in various shapes.
Unfortunately, in many families, the quality of parenting has nosedived as evidenced by parental shift in emphasis from enforcement of godly principles to career pursuit and deliberate/subtle compromise of biblical principles.
The Youth Team is therefore a platform (rescue effort) to meet peculiar GT teenagers' spiritual, social, academic, and other developmental needs. It is hoped that the impact would not only root every teenager firmly in the knowledge and practice of the word of God, but that through the grace of God, and carefully-designed interventional programmes, we would have a critical mass of youths with a difference, whose love for the Lord would not be in doubt.
The Youth Team is focused on raising godly youths mirroring the life of Christ in the present generation, and who will be positive change agents in their families, schools, church, and the larger society. It is our firm believe that when this is achieved, the youths in the Ministry, would be useful to themselves and their parents; a source of synergy, and an heritage of God, rapturable at the end of age.
The Team Leader is a Deacon / Deaconess appointed by the Church Leadership, typical of a two-year tenure characteristic of the Diaconate in GT. A church elder oversees the activities of the Team. Working with the Team Leader are volunteers, called Youth Friends. Each Youth Friend oversees a cluster (usually between 20 and 30) of youths in the same age-grade called Youth Family. Youths in each family appoint a leader and an assistant. Each Family Friend is expected to be directly spiritually responsible for the teaching, guiding, prayer, visitation, and monitoring of teenagers in his/her family, and reports to the leader, who also reports to the Elder in Charge and the church leadership.
The Youth Team has ten (10) families/age groups; i.e. Wisdom (ages 13-14), Meekness (ages 13-14), Truthfulness (ages 13-14), Diligence (ages 15-16), Holiness (ages 15-16), Purity (ages 15-16), Righteousness (ages 15-16), Godlinesss (17-19), Steadfastness (17-19), and Favour (17-19). There are also activity group leaders and assistants leading the Youth Choir, Youth Drama, and Youth Ushering groups. These groups are also overseen by Youth Friends with the responsibility of coordinating each activity group. Some of the past leaders of the Team include Bro. Biola Bolumole, Bro. Yinka Ajala, Bro. Adeolu Adedapo, Sister Tina Joseph, Pastor, G.E. Akinbola, and Bro. Adebayo Adejumo(the present leader).
Members of the Youth Team are mostly secondary school students, who are expected to transit to the BLEST Team either on admission into any tertiary institution, or after the teenage years. A deliberate effort is being made in present times to facilitate this transition.
The Youth Church
Youths in the Church meet every second Sunday of every month (except when this clashes with a major Church programme) after the Sunday 8-9am Special Hour fellowship at the upper floor of the Outreach Hall. Each Youth Church programme is patterned after the GT mode of worship.
However, the services focus on meeting certain peculiar spiritual, moral, academic, developmental, physical, and social peculiarities of teenagers in the Church. The youths are directly involved, as they minister in songs, playlets, bible quiz, etc. Church elders and members with exemplary Christian character, with evidence of godly family are prayerfully selected to lead exhortations, bible studies, symposium, etc in sharing the word of God or anchoring specific programmes.
Without doubts, the quality of worship, teaching, doctrine, etc. has improved tremendously over the years. Today, and to the glory of God, our youths have shown tremendous spiritual, moral, and academic advancements. Of course, there are a few young people with unsound testimonies, especially children from dysfunctional families and lukewarm parents.
Saturday Youth Meetings
This is organized to provide the opportunity for youths to have godly interaction among themselves, and also with Family Friends and invited facilitators. It features counseling sessions, skill-building programmes, tips for academic success, inter-family bible quiz, draw your sword, and sports among others.
Our Glory Youth Team has facilities for sports and games including football, table tennis, volley ball, basketball, skipping-ropes etc. The Team won the best prize in many inter-church bible quizzes, choir ministrations, and even football competitions in recent years.
Youth biennial retreats, and convention programmes are the epitome and symbol of the great transformation in the Youth Team. The 2015 Youth Retreat at Ile-Igbon, was preceded by a soul-winning village outreach around Oyedeji village, a few kilometers after the Camp site.
The zeal of our youths in evangelism, ministration, even to vagrant psychotics, intercessory prayers, and support of Missionary outfits around the village would go down in history. This was done in collaboration with the Missions Clearing House of the GT Ministry.
The Glory Tabernacle is a Ministry of divine origin and divine destiny. We believe that God has called us to be a blessing to His larger Body. Guiding young people in the way of the Lord would definitely make this goal attainable. The Youth Team now has an array of leaders (three former leaders of Men and Women in GT, as well as twenty other committed brethren).
The help of some members of the Glory Voices, Electronics Team, Eldership Council, and also the Church leadership through financial support, prayers, and encouragement are foundational to the successes recorded. Not that we have already attained, but keep pressing to the mark.
ADM is an end-time move of the Holy Spirit to restore the practice of apostolic-styled (life-transforming) discipleship in the church of the 21st century and beyond.
To make available to the church in all the continents of the world, the knowledge, practical skills, and resources, for effective apostolic-styled discipleship, by which believers can grow more systematically into the image of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The School in its origin, concept and course content is designed to train Christian leaders or potential leaders. It started in 1990 by a vision the Pioneer General Pastor of the Ministry Dr U Obed received from God of the need for the training of leaders for the contemporary Church. Its present structure as an organized training school came into being in 1995 when 189 participants graduated from the school.
The Apostolic Discipleship Movement organizes these strategic training sessions with view to enable disciple makers, pastors and church leaders and other committed individuals with skills and capacity to initiate, conduct and sustain transformational discipleship programs using tested apostolic discipleship movement materials.
Participants are also trained to be able to develop apostolic discipleship training materials.
The Believers Spiritual Growth program is the product of the ADM effort in developing a life-transforming discipleship programs. It comprises bible study materials developed in line with the three stages of spiritual growth as espoused by the ADM.
There are forty five bible study outlines in the first stage, and sixty in the second stage. The third stage is a formal teaching on identifying, developing and deploying one’s destiny fulfilling ministry.
I thank God for His Word is true. God told me in 1989 (when I gave my life to Jesus Christ): "You will be light to all nations". It had been happening in various ways. It happened again in May, 2015. I won the Tetfund Award as the first person to have ever won such in my faculty. Because the devil was angry, the money was withheld. In the last miracle service (January, 2016), I brought the matter before God. The servant of God (Pastor Obed, Mummy Chy, and Pastor Akinbola) declared the word of God on the approval and assured me that it was done. It has been actualized.
God moved mightily and it is really done because the management has decided that soon I will be interviewed on our radio and in the university's weekly bulletin to prove to the university community that this grant can be won by researchers in humanities because people think it is only researchers in science alone that can win it. Our God is good. A sister.
